MERADONG: A total of 200 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Meradong received special incentives amounting to RM25,900 in recognition of their academic achievements and success in securing places at higher learning institutions (IPT).
Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the allocation comprised RM12,600 for 67 STPM 2025 students who achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.00 and above, and RM13,300 for 133 students who received university offers.
He said this in his speech at the My Journey to University Programme and SMK Meradong STPM 2025 Incentive Presentation Ceremony on Wednesday.
According to him, the My Journey to University programme, which has been organised since 2017, reflected his personal commitment to providing continuous encouragement to Form Six students to pursue higher education.
“The success of students in overcoming the challenges of STPM and securing places at universities is truly commendable. Behind this achievement are sacrifices of time, parents’ prayers and continuous guidance from teachers,” he said.
He also advised students to always maintain high self-confidence, uphold integrity and strengthen their mental resilience throughout their university journey.
“Prove that SMK Meradong students are capable of competing and standing on equal footing with others. Pursue knowledge as widely as possible and return in the future to contribute towards developing our homeland, Sarawak,” he added.
