BINTULU: The TalentPath Sarawak 2026 programme has been enhanced to provide skills and career pathways for Sarawak’s youth, including school leavers, fresh graduates, job seekers and individuals looking to switch careers.

Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said that technical skills could serve as a turning point for participants in building their careers and increasing their income.

According to him, recognised certification can open doors to initial employment, after which the experience gained helps boost income and foster career advancement.

“For many of them, technical skills can act as a turning point.

“Recognised certification can open the door to a first job, while that first job can lead to experience, increased income and career growth,” he said during his speech at the launch of the TalentPath Sarawak 2026: Bintulu Series at a hotel here on Sunday.

Dato Sri Roland emphasised the need to further strengthen skills-based pathways, noting that technical and vocational skills are crucial for industrial development, infrastructure maintenance and supporting Sarawak’s economic growth.

Meanwhile, he urged participants to take their training seriously, master technical skills and prioritise workplace safety.

He also reminded participants to be mindful of their instructors' guidance, learn from mistakes, collaborate with others and cultivate a mindset of lifelong learning.

“Bear in mind that while a certificate may open the door, it is competence, discipline, attitude, and a willingness to learn that will determine how far you progress in your career,” he said. -UKASnews
