KUCHING: The Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) continue to strengthen their cooperation to bridge the information gap between the public and both the Sarawak and Federal Governments.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol stated that this collaboration is crucial, particularly in navigating the digital advancements that play an increasing role in various work processes and information dissemination.

"The state government, through UKAS and RTM, will collaborate on many fronts. Given the digital presence in so many of our work processes, we must enhance these efforts," he said.

He made these remarks during a press conference following a courtesy visit on the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at the Kompleks Satria Pertiwi on Wednesday.

Datuk Abdullah added that UKAS also aims to pay a courtesy visit to Angkasapuri and explore documents and collections in the RTM archives that could be shared with the younger generation.

Meanwhile, Director-General of the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia Datuk Ashwad Ismail noted that UKAS and RTM have consistently collaborated on various events, programmes and initiatives, assuring that this partnership will continue to be strengthened.

According to him, technological advancement is a key focus for RTM, particularly in shaping a younger generation that possesses the imagination and determination to master the field of technology.

"At the same time, beyond building rapport and strategic ties based on our existing relationship, we aim to further shape and strengthen the bonds between UKAS and RTM, the state government and Radio Televisyen Malaysia, as well as our long-standing strategic partner, TVS, to successfully drive national and state agendas," he emphasised. -UKASnews
