KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg attended the 25th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM25), which created history by being hosted for the first time in Sarawak and outside Peninsular Malaysia.

Held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Saturday, the Silver Jubilee edition of AIM25 gathered the nation's music industry players to celebrate the achievements, creations, and talents of Malaysian music.

The Premier of Sarawak, who attended alongside his daughter, Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, arrived at 9:30 PM.

Upon arrival, he was received by the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak,m Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak Datuk Snowdan Lawan, alongside other VIP guests.

He subsequently entered the hall at 10:20 PM to witness the climax of the AIM25 event.

Hosting AIM25 in Sarawak also highlighted the musical diversity of Sarawak and Borneo, thereby reflecting the state's capacity to host prestigious national-level events and reinforcing its standing as a destination for large-scale gatherings.

In conjunction with the Silver Jubilee edition, AIM25 also introduced two new categories — Best Borneo Song and Best Festive Song — to showcase Malaysia's cultural and musical diversity.

During the ceremony, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari, accompanied by Dato Sri Abdul Karim, presented the Best Borneo Song Award to Mawat for the song Dayang Bintang.

Composed and written by Maxwel Franklin Saran and released under MVM Music and Assapai Music Production, the song etched history as the inaugural winner of the Best Borneo Song category at AIM25.

Also present were Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — UKASnews
