Education, Skills Form Foundation Of Mukah's Human Capital Development
MUKAH: Human capital development in Mukah Division continues to be strengthened through education and skills training to produce a skilled generation capable of meeting the needs of future industries.
Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said Sarawak Government-owned education institutions such as CENTEXS Mukah and Dalat play an important role in providing skills training to local youth.
"CENTEXS Mukah and Dalat offer 18 and 16 skills programmes respectively, including in the oil and gas sector and Robot Operating System (ROS)," she said.
She said this during the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) Programme for Mukah Division 2026, which was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at Dataran Setia Raja Mukah on Saturday.
According to Dato Sri Fatimah, CENTEXS in Mukah Division has so far produced 3,139 skilled graduates, preparing them to build their careers and future.
In addition, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) Laila Taib Mukah Campus is the only campus in Malaysia equipped with facilities in marine and maritime technology to meet the needs of the shipping industry in Tanjung Manis District and Sibu Division.
In early childhood education, the Sarawak Government also provides a Special Annual Grant of RM5,000 a year to registered TASKA (nurseries) and TABIKA (kindergartens).
A total of 127 TASKA and TABIKA in Mukah Division have benefited from the assistance to carry out minor repair works and provide learning materials for children.
Meanwhile, student performance in the STEM test has also improved, with the pass rate rising from 76 per cent in 2025 to 86 per cent in 2026, while the number of participants increased from 859 to 892 students.
She said the achievement reflected the potential of children in Mukah Division to continue to grow and become involved in science and technology. -UKASnews
