Sarawak Allocates RM40 Million To Finance Affordable Housing In 2027
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has allocated RM40 million in 2027 through Mutiara Mortgage and Credit to provide affordable home financing facilities for homebuyers in the B40 and M40 income groups.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the flexible financing facilities aim to help more Sarawakians own their own homes.
“These flexible mortgage solutions ensure more Sarawakians can secure home ownership. This scheme will receive an allocation of RM40 million in 2027,” he said.
He said this when tabling the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026 for its second reading at the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) on Monday.
Meanwhile, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari said the Sarawak Government will continue implementing the Housing Deposit and Repayment Assistance Scheme, providing RM10,000 in financial assistance to eligible B40 and M40 households, particularly first-time homebuyers.
He added that the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme will continue providing RM200 per month to households earning RM5,504 and below, with a total fund of RM48 million expected to benefit 20,000 households as coverage expands to more districts.
He said the Sarawak Government will also continue supporting rural communities through the Longhouse Loan Scheme, which provides interest-free loans in the form of building materials and hardware.
“Through the Longhouse Loan Scheme, rural communities are assisted with interest-free loans in the form of building materials and hardware, providing RM30,000 per door for refurbishment of existing longhouses, and RM50,000 per door for the construction of new longhouses,” he explained. -UKASnews
