FEIAP's Success Attracts International Delegates' Interest To Return To Sarawak
KUCHING: The success of Sarawak in hosting the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) General Assembly and Convention last month has not only strengthened international engineering networks, but also drawn interest from overseas delegates to revisit the state.
Chairwoman of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch Datu Ir. Dr. Angelia Liew San Chuin said the event successfully attracted over 2,000 visitors, including approximately 800 delegates and members from 25 countries.
“In my opinion, this effort was very successful as we received feedback from economists that they truly intend to visit Sarawak again and observe how we manage our resources,” she said.
She said this when met by reporters after paying a courtesy call on the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) here on Monday.
She added that the visit was aimed at expressing gratitude to the Premier of Sarawak for the successful hosting of FEIAP, besides extending an invitation for him to attend the IEM Sarawak Annual Dinner at the end of November.
The dinner, scheduled to take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), is expected to gather around 1,300 guests, including industry representatives and the engineering community.
“The annual dinner will be held on Sunday at the end of November 2026.
“We anticipate the attendance of around 1,300 guests. This event will take place at BCCK, and we hope to receive an even more encouraging response from the industry,” she noted.
In another development, IEM Sarawak is also organising the IEM Run, open to the public on December 6, with the flag-off scheduled to take place at the Sarawak Science Centre. — UKASnews
