Sarawak E-Native Courts System Slated For Completion By August 2027
KUCHING: The E-Native Courts System, developed to modernise record management and service delivery for the Native Courts of Sarawak, is expected to be completed in August 2027.
Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai stated that the project represents an effort to upgrade the existing Native Courts system through an initiative under the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (13MP).
According to him, the project valued at RM730,000 was approved on June 25 and is currently in its first phase of implementation by Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS).
“The E-Native Courts System aims to streamline the case registration process, reinforce data integrity, and enhance service delivery,” he said.
He said this when delivering his ministrial winding-up speech at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting here on Monday.
Dato Sri John Sikie added that the system is proposed to be integrated with several relevant government departments and units to strengthen information sharing and administrative coordination.
“Among the proposed participating agencies are the Sarawak State Attorney-General’s Chambers, Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department, Sarawak Land and Survey Department, Administration Unit, Sarawak Public Service Digitalisation Unit, and Majlis Adat Istiadat Sarawak.
“Inter-agency integration among these government bodies will facilitate information sharing and administrative alignment, in line with the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030),” he explained.
He noted that efforts to upgrade the system reflect the commitment of the Native Courts of Sarawak to evolve into a more modern and accountable institution, while safeguarding the integrity of court records.
The implementation of the system is also expected to elevate the effectiveness and efficiency of court services, thereby ensuring a more responsive service delivery to the Native community in Sarawak. — UKASnews
