KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will combine experienced candidates with new faces in selecting its line-up for the 13th Sarawak State Election.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said this was among the approaches that would be considered in determining the GPS candidate list.

“What I can say here is that it will be a combination of experience and the younger generation,” he told reporters after a special press conference at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here on Friday.

However, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari said a decision on the candidate list would be made after a meeting, while the number of new faces to be fielded had yet to be finalised.

Commenting on the possibility of some incumbent candidates not being retained, he explained that some individuals had decided to step down rather than being dropped.

He also said GPS would hold a meeting before convening a press conference to clarify matters relating to the coalition’s preparations for the upcoming state election. -UKASnews
