Interhill Plaza Handed Over To MBM To Enhance Miri's Public Amenities
MIRI: Interhill Group has officially handed over Interhill Plaza to Miri City Council (MBM) as a contribution to the community through the provision of a higher-quality and more conducive public space.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian said the handover was not merely an effort to upgrade physical facilities, but also reflected collaboration between the private sector, government and community in driving the development of Miri city.
He said urban development required the involvement of all parties and should not rest entirely on the shoulders of local authorities.
He also stressed that urban growth must be balanced with the provision of quality public spaces, green surroundings and the development of clean, smart and low-carbon cities to improve residents' well-being.
Meanwhile, Interhill Group Managing Director Albert Hu Yun Chai said the handover of Interhill Plaza marked the fulfilment of the company's commitment to present the upgraded public space to MBM and the Miri community.
He said the initiative reflected Interhill Group's continued commitment to contributing to community development by providing a more welcoming, greener and inclusive space for public use.
The handover also fulfilled the company's commitment made in conjunction with MBM's 20th anniversary celebration last year.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian at Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre on Friday.
Also present were Sarawak Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, and Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang. -UKASnews
