Teamwork As The Backbone Of Sarawak Civil Service, Avoid Silo Working Culture
KUCHING: The spirit of teamwork continues to form the backbone of the Sarawak Civil Service, with all agencies urged to strengthen cooperation and move in unison to ensure more effective service delivery to the people.
Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the success of any department or organisation does not emerge from individual effort, but from the combined strength of all members who carry out their respective roles with commitment and sincerity.
He stressed that every state department and agency must avoid practising a silo working culture, and instead reinforce collaboration among all civil servants to enhance the quality and effectiveness of public service delivery.
“Whether you are a driver, a tea lady, a cleaner, a storekeeper or a senior officer, each one of you contributes to the success of the organisation.
“The success of any department, including the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), is not determined by senior officers alone, but by the collective effort of the entire workforce,” he said when delivering his address in conjunction with UKAS Integrity and Aspirations Day at a leading hotel here on Friday.
Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar also emphasised that forming small exclusive groups within a department only weakens the organisation and undermines service delivery, urging all staff to work as a single team with a shared purpose.
He added that the role of Heads of Department is crucial in fostering unity and ensuring that all members, including frontline, support and technical staff, are involved in decision-making processes and in carrying out their duties.
During the same event, he presented the Excellent Service Award (APC) Certificates and the 2024 Excellent Performance Certificates to UKAS staff in recognition of their commitment and dedication.
Also present were UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, senior UKAS officers and members of the UKAS workforce. -UKASnews
