Two Simanggang Associations Receive RM30,000 In MRP Grants
SIMANGGANG: Two associations in the Simanggang constituency (DUN) received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants totalling RM30,000.
The Simanggang Gators Volleyball Club received the largest allocation, totalling RM25,000 to support sports development and youth engagement, while the Simanggang Edible-Bird’s Nest Traders Association received RM5,000 to strengthen local economic activities.
The allocated cheques were presented by the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovated and Talent Development, who is also a Simanggang Assemblyman, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, during a ceremony at the Simanggang Constituency Service Centre recently.
According to him, the MRP is among the Sarawak Government’s key instruments for empowering the social and economic development of the people at the grassroots level.
He explained that, in addition to the MRP, the state government also channels allocations through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), which focuses on implementing infrastructure projects such as the construction of concrete bridges, village roads, and the refurbishment of longhouses.
He added that such efforts reflect the continuous commitment of the government under the leadership of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, in enhancing the wellbeing of the people.
In the meantime, he also urged the community in the DUN Simanggang to continue supporting the implementation of RTP projects so that the benefits can be enjoyed sustainably by future generations.
At the same event, he also officiated the symbolic presentation of ‘duit raya’ to the chairpersons of Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) for the Malay community, as well as chairpersons of mosques and suraus, to support the organisation of community activities throughout the festive season. –UKASnews
