Sarawak Hope Run 2025 To Raise RM50,000 For Children’s Causes
KUCHING: The upcoming Sarawak Hope Run 2025 aims to raise RM50,000 for four children-related welfare bodies, echoing the spirit of giving as the year comes to an end.
Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu said the initiative, supported by MYSED, reflects the importance of unity and compassion in building a caring society.
“This is a good cause because it benefits Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah, PERKATA, the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia and the Kuching Autistic Association.
“We hope the public will come together to support this run, especially during the festive season,” he said during a press conference at Rentap Muay Thai Gym.
Datuk Gerald Rentap also contributed RM1,000 to launch the campaign, commending the collaboration between Revolution Run (RevRun), Drills Running Club, Rentap Muay Thai Gym, and Kuching Happy Runners.
The 5-kilometre run and 1-mile walk, to be held on 21 December 2025 at Padang Merdeka, will feature local Muay Thai athletes known as Rentap Fighters, who will help raise donations for the cause.
Datuk Gerald Rentap praised the organisers and fighters for using sports as a means to give back.
“When we have an active and caring community, it becomes easier for us to grow together. Through efforts like this, we give hope and build a better future for our children,” he said. -UKASnews
