Sarawak Premier Arrives In Seoul, Attends 36th RISEAP Meeting
SEOUL: Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg arrived in Seoul, South Korea to attend the 36th Executive Committee Meeting of the Regional Islamic Propaganda Council for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP).
A special flight carrying the Sarawak Premier landed safely at Incheon International Airport at about 9.25 p.m. on Tuesday local time.
Welcoming his arrival were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib, RISEAP Honorary Secretary, Dato' Mohamad Marzuki Mohamad Omar, President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha and Mufti of Sarawak, Datuk Kipli Yasin.
On Wednesday, the Sarawak Premier as President of RISEAP is scheduled to chair the 36th RISEAP Executive Committee Meeting at The Plaza Seoul Hotel which will also be attended by several other member countries.
Among them are Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
The meeting agenda will touch on the proposal to appoint Timor Leste as a RISEAP member country, the presentation of the progress report of the RISEAP office in Kuching as well as the activity report of the northern, central and southern zones and the Women's Wing for the year 2025.
In addition, the Sarawak Premier and other exco members are also expected to discuss the determination of the venue for the 21st RISEAP General Assembly 2026 as well as several other meeting agendas that focus on efforts to empower the regional Muslim community in the field of da'wah or socio-economic development.
In the afternoon, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari is scheduled to officiate the inauguration of the Korean Muslim Federation (KMF) Kindergarten, the upgrade of the Seoul Central Mosque and the KMF Halal Department.
He will also participate in a briefing session with KMF members before concluding his two-day working visit here.
The Sarawak Premier is scheduled to return home to Kuching on Thursday. -UKASnews
