KUCHING: Bintulu Port Holding Berhad (BPHB) continues to maintain its performance as a major port in Sarawak for the year when it recorded a total cargo handling of 38.3 million tonnes as of September 2025, involving 5,649 vessels.
BPHB President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato' Roslan Abdul Ghani said BPHB faced challenges such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) maintenance and weather disruptions but continued to maintain strong operational resilience and high service reliability.
"Our vessel turnaround time remains very competitive, supported by an equipment availability rate of almost 90 per cent, which reflects our continued commitment to operational excellence," he said.
He said this when speaking at the Bintulu Port Customer Centric Nite 2025 which was officiated by Sarawak Secretary and BPHB Chairman, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki at a leading hotel, here on Tuesday.
Dato Roslan added that the port is currently in the process of implementing a high-tech Port Operating System, the most advanced system in the world, which is the same system used at Yangshan Port Phase 4, Shanghai in China.
Meanwhile, he said that Bintulu Port consistently handles over 80 per cent of Sarawak's total imports and exports every year, emphasising its role as a catalyst for the state's economic growth and an important link to the international market.
"In line with the global energy landscape shifting towards sustainability, we are poised to play a leading role in new sectors such as green hydrogen and renewable energy logistics.
"These are new growth areas and Bintulu Port is fully prepared to support them," he stressed.
The highlight of the ceremony saw BPHB recognising customers and industry partners who demonstrated outstanding achievements in 11 key categories, reflecting the diversity of industries and services that drive the port's ecosystem.
