Community Unites For Solat Hajat Perdana Ahead Of UPKK & SPM 2025
LAWAS: A strong spirit of community support filled Masjid Besar Darul Ma’mur as families, educators and local leaders gathered for the Solat Hajat Perdana in conjunction with the upcoming UPKK and SPM 2025 examinations.
Organised by Majlis Islam Sarawak, the programme was graced by Sarawak Deputy Premier and Bukit Sari Assemblyman, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who reminded students that confidence, discipline and consistent effort remain the pillars of academic success.
In his address, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah emphasised that every student carries unique strengths and potential, and that success can be achieved through diligence and commitment even in challenging circumstances.
“Maintain your relationship with Allah, respect your teachers and parents, and stay focused on your studies. With knowledge and good character, your future will be bright,” he said.
This year, 322 candidates in Lawas will sit for the UPKK examination, while 577 candidates will undertake SPM.
The Deputy Premier also highlighted the importance of mastering knowledge and foreign languages in today’s competitive environment, describing education as the foundation for socio-economic progress and efforts to eradicate poverty.
He urged students to avoid negative influences, especially drug abuse, which could jeopardise their future.
“Our children are the hope of Sarawak. With hard work and discipline, they will chart a brighter future for themselves, their families and the State,” he added.
Continued after Maghrib with the Solat Hajat, the programme followed by Isyak congregational prayers.
It featured the presentation of Agrobank’s RM2 million Takaful Kasih Personal Accident Protection Plan and a RM15,000 zakat contribution, as well as souvenir presentations to honoured guests.
A community dinner later brought together families, teachers and local leaders, reflecting the strong support network in Lawas that continues to encourage academic excellence and moral development among students. -UKASnews
