Sarawak Government Confident Of Producing More Professionals
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government is confident in its ability to produce a larger pool of professionals through the introduction of various policies that encompass the entire human resource process.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg expressed his belief that the state's entire population of 2.8 million is capable of achieving excellence in their chosen fields.
“Even though Sarawak's population is only 2.8 million, do not worry, because those 2.8 million will become a smart and highly skilled society, we want to produce a Sarawakian workforce that is expert in their respective fields while introducing industries that offer higher wages,” he explained.
He said this during his speech at the state-level Labour Day 2026 celebration held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here on Sunday.
Elaborating further, Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari explained that the government's efforts to create new job opportunities with high salaries are intended to match the current cost of living.
“Therefore, workers must be matched with their skills and productivity to meet the requirements provided,” he stressed.
He emphasised that the Sarawak Government has established pathways including the introduction of free education, modern technology, digitalisation, and specialised courses for Sarawakian youth.
In this regard, he hopes that the beneficiaries of these initiatives will fully utilise the available opportunities to expand the economy and services within the state. -UKASnews
