Crowds Energised Sri Aman TVET Carnival, Drawing In 5,500 Visitors
SIMANGGANG: The Sri Aman Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Carnival 2025 wrapped up with colour and excitement on Sunday, drawing a lively crowd of 5,500 visitors over its three-day showcase at Dewan Suarah Sri Aman.
Hosted by Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS), the carnival, which was held from 14 to 16 November, featured hands-on exhibitions, competitions and career exposure sessions involving more than 50 government and private agencies from the finance, oil and gas, manufacturing and creative industries.
Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, officiated the closing ceremony and praised the energetic turnout, noting that TVET continues to gain momentum among Sarawak’s youth.
He said the carnival serves as a “strategic, high-impact platform to strengthen and elevate TVET as a leading education pathway for the future workforce of Sarawak,” highlighting the importance of early exposure to skill-based learning.
The atmosphere peaked during the prize presentation ceremony, where winners of various competitions were announced.
Team BTR Sarawak clinched the e-Sports Showdown Mobile Legends title, earning RM500, while Universiti Putra Malaysia grabbed the “Booth Sumpah Best” award with an equal prize.
In the skills categories, Pricilla Duya Stanley and Adricsmon Aermi topped the Pastry Challenge.
Lerryson Janang and Phyris Davis took first place in the Cooking Competition, and Emelia Cecelia Madong shone as champion of the Makeup Competition.
Abang Ashraf Abang Kasmadi and Mohd Azimi won the Electronics category, while Nur Luqman Sulaiman and Muhammad Aliff Aiman emerged champions in the Automotive and Electrical competitions respectively, each taking home RM500.
The carnival’s vibrant participation highlighted the community’s growing enthusiasm for TVET pathways and Sarawak’s drive to build a skilled, future-ready generation.
Also present were representative of the Sri Aman Resident, Siti Haryanie Mohamad, Sri Aman District Office Administrative Officer, Mohd Hamizan Yahya, Acting Chief Executive Officer of TEGAS, Fredick Kevin Buseli, and representative of the Sri Aman District Education Office, Bong Yu Wan. -UKASnews
