SBC In Collaboration With KITKOJI Launch Trove Borneo, An Essential Oil Product Made From Sarawak’s Native Plants
KUCHING: The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), in collaboration with KITKOJI, has launched Trove Borneo, a range of 100 per cent pure essential oils derived from plants native to Sarawak.
Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), who is also SBC Chairman, Dato Sri Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, said the achievement reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to advancing research and development (R&D) towards commercial opportunities in the global market.
“We are expanding our production, research and outcomes to showcase the hard work and dedication contributed by our researchers, scientists and SBC, and presenting it all to the world for their consideration.
“For the Sarawak Government, I believe SBC’s approach is a pioneering example for other agencies. We should not limit ourselves to the domestic market alone. We need to step onto the global stage, where the real market lies,” he said.
He made these remarks during a dialogue session held in conjunction with the Trove Borneo product launch at a hotel here on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, KITKOJI Chief Executive Officer Ken Koh said that 50 per cent of the sales revenue from the product will be channelled back to SBC and local communities to encourage more research into the development of products based on Sarawak’s natural resources.
During the same event, Dato Sri Dr. Muhammad Abdullah also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between SBC Chief Executive Officer Dato Dr. Yeo Tiong Chia and Ken.
Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of BioVerde Technologies Sdn Bhd (BVT), Ts. Hazwan Razak. -UKASnews
