Inaugural Sarawak F&B & Culinary Fellowship Dinner Unites Industry Players
KUCHING: Sarawak’s restaurant, F&B and culinary sector marked a new milestone on Wednesday night with the inaugural “Rasa Bersatu Sarawak - Mesra Seindustri” Fellowship Dinner, bringing together industry representatives statewide for the first time.
Held at Hoi Tin Lau Restaurant, the event was graced by Kuching South City (MBKS) Mayor Dato’ Wee Hong Seng.
Organising Chairman and President of How Yu Chef Association Kuching Sarawak, Goh Ah Seng, said the gathering symbolises stronger industry unity and cooperation, supported by the official endorsement from MBKS and expert input from UNESCO.
He said Kuching’s recognition as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy highlights Sarawak’s rich, diverse and sustainable food culture, while recent growth in tourism and international exchanges, including the Malaysia–China visa-free arrangement, continues to boost the F&B sector.
Goh also emphasised the need to uphold professionalism and integrity, noting that a small number of irresponsible individuals have affected the industry’s reputation in recent years.
He expressed hope that the Fellowship Dinner will develop into an annual statewide tradition hosted by different regions to encourage consistent collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Goh thanked veteran industry leaders, media partners and delegates from Johor for supporting the inaugural event, adding that collective effort will continue to elevate Sarawak’s culinary industry.
Also present were the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping, and other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
