BAU: The swift and significant changes occurring in Bau are encouraging former residents to return and settle in the area, driven by key development projects implemented by the Sarawak Government.
Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport and Tasik Biru Assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep noted that a decade or two ago, many residents migrated to urban centers seeking income due to the area's limited development.
"Now, the trend is reversing. The increasing number of development projects being created is actively encouraging residents to return to the district," he said.
"The expansion of housing, facilities, and job opportunities has been a major catalyst for this positive shift," Datuk Henry.
He said this at the Confucius Birthday Celebration at SJK Chung Hua Bau on Sunday.
Touching on the local education landscape, Datuk Henry highlighted that SJK Chung Hua Bau is now a school of choice not only for the Chinese community but also for students from various racial backgrounds.
He stated that this trend demonstrates a growing community awareness regarding the vital importance of education, irrespective of an individual's background.
Datuk Henry stressed that the primary goal of schools today is to cultivate a balanced and well-rounded society to support the state's development, emphasising that education remains the foundation regardless of whether it is at a Chung Hua School or any other institution.
"This approach is rooted in the fact that Sarawak consistently prioritises the harmony and well-being of its multi-racial community," he concluded. - UKASnews
