Kampung Abang Community Facilities Upgraded, RTP Project Launched
PADAWAN: Kampung Abang residents marked a meaningful milestone as several upgraded public facilities were officially launched during a community dinner at the village multipurpose hall.
Deputy Minister for Transport Sarawak (Aviation and Road) and Mambong Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, officiated the event which celebrated the completion of key Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) works benefiting Kampung Abang and Pangkalan Ampat.
In his remarks, Datuk Dr Jerip thanked the community for their strong cooperation, saying disciplined project implementation helps prevent delays and ensures quality rural development.
He also highlighted ongoing progress in nearby Annah Biya, Sapit and Kiding, reflecting growing connectivity and tourism potential under the Sarawak Delta Geopark initiative.
During the event, Datuk Dr Jerip also announced the approval of a RM40,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant for the Village Development and Security Commitee (JKKK) of Kampung Abang to support annual activities.
From 2016 to 2025, a total of seven RTP projects worth RM1.23 million have been successfully completed in Kampung Abang and Pangkalan Ampat.
Among the newly upgraded facilities launched were the multipurpose hall, parking area, suspension bridge, village gateway and pedestrian walkway.
The evening also saw recognition of academic excellence, with six outstanding students receiving achievement incentives.
Padawan Sub-District Acting Administrative Officer, SAO Julius Scott Sapong, reminded community leaders to maintain public amenities and safeguard them from vandalism for long-term benefit.
