1.223 Million Hectares Of NCR Land Surveyed Under New Initiative As Of October 2025
KUCHING: Approximately 1,223,646 hectares of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land have been successfully surveyed under the New NCR Land Surveying Initiative as of 31 October 2025.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the initiative reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to recognising and safeguarding the people’s rights to their legitimate NCR land, established in accordance with existing land legislation.
“Of that total, around 947,442 hectares have been gazetted as Native Communal Reserve (Agriculture) under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code, where the surveying work is carried out based on applications from the parties involved,” he said.
He said this during the winding-up session for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development Sarawak (MUDeNR) at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Monday.
Additionally, he explained that the Sarawak Government is also prioritising individual lots for the issuance of land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code, specifically for areas that have been gazetted, based on applications and the readiness of claimants.
“As at 31 October 2025, a total of 107,467 individual lots have been successfully surveyed, covering an area of 127,016 hectares, for which land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code have been issued or will be issued,” he added.
To help speed up the surveying process, he urged land claimants to be present during on-the-ground surveys, clearly mark the boundaries of their land, and avoid disputes during the claims process to ensure smoother survey implementation. -UKASnews
