KUCHING: The dinner held in conjunction with the Malaysia Pepper Conference and Expo (MAPEC) 2025 provided a vibrant evening of industry engagement, cultural expression and culinary showcase as delegates gathered aboard the Sarawak River Cruise on Thursday night.
The event was graced by Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) Chairman and Baram Member of Parliament Dato Anyi Ngau, highlighting the Board’s continued support for industry players and initiatives that strengthen the positioning of Sarawak pepper at both national and international levels.
Adding depth to the evening, General Manager of Saraspice Sdn Bhd Fu Siang Lee shared insights into the company’s ongoing research and development efforts, including the introduction of new value-added pepper-based products developed under stringent food safety and quality standards.
Fu Siang Lee said the strength of Saraspice lies in its commitment to quality and authenticity, emphasising that all products are produced using 100 per cent Sarawak pepper through carefully controlled processing methods to ensure safety and consistency.
“If you are looking for pepper, look for the Saraspice brand, because what we deliver is pure Sarawak pepper that has gone through strict cleaning, steam treatment and grinding processes to ensure it is safe and of high quality,” he said.
The evening also featured a live cooking demonstration using Saraspice products, where chicken dishes were prepared to showcase the versatility of Sarawak pepper in contemporary cuisine, drawing keen interest from conference participants.
Adding to the colour and atmosphere of the night was a traditional dance performance representing the diverse ethnic communities of Sarawak, reflecting the state’s rich cultural heritage alongside its globally recognised agricultural produce.
The dinner served as a networking platform and a relaxed cultural and gastronomic interlude, complementing the broader objectives of MAPEC 2025 in strengthening collaboration, innovation and sustainability within Malaysia’s pepper industry.
Also present at the dinner was MPB Director General Vincent Sawat, together with industry stakeholders, delegates and partners attending MAPEC 2025. -UKASnews
