Lucky Cat Statues Add Charm To Kuching Through CSR Initiative
KUCHING: The installation of Lucky Cat statues at several strategic locations around the city has further enhanced Kuching’s urban landscape through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Borneo Restu Sdn Bhd.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian was present at the installation ceremony, which reflects positive collaboration between the private sector and the local authority in efforts to beautify the city.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the initiative reflects positive collaboration between the private sector and the local authority in efforts to beautify the city while fostering a more vibrant and welcoming environment.
Under the CSR contribution, two Lucky Cat statues have been installed at Saradise, while one statue each has been placed at the MBKS Office and Hui Sing Park, adding distinctive character and visual appeal to the surrounding areas.
Dato Wee noted that Kuching’s international reputation as the “Cat City” makes the addition of the Lucky Cat statues particularly meaningful, as they complement the city’s identity and strengthen its cultural and tourism branding.
He said the statues also serve as attractive landmarks that can be appreciated by both residents and visitors, contributing to a sense of pride and enjoyment of public spaces.
Dato Wee commended Borneo Restu Sdn Bhd for its thoughtful contribution, describing the initiative as an example of how CSR efforts can positively impact the city’s physical landscape and community well-being.
He expressed hope that the initiative would inspire more corporate organisations to participate in CSR programmes that support city beautification, sustainability and shared responsibility in caring for Kuching.
According to the press statement, continued collaboration between stakeholders remains key to ensuring Kuching develops as a clean, attractive and distinctive city that leaves a lasting impression on visitors while remaining a source of pride for its residents. -UKASnews
