Anjung Usahawan Sundar To Drive Agro & Local SME Economic Growth
LAWAS: The Sarawak Government remains firmly committed to strengthening the rural economy through the official opening of Anjung Usahawan Sundar, which serves as a catalyst for the development of micro-entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly in the agriculture, livestock and food processing sectors.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development II, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said the Anjung Usahawan provides a conducive, well-organised and systematic business environment to help local entrepreneurs become more actively involved in the local economy.
“This Anjung Usahawan is not merely a trading space. It is also equipped with processing facilities and quality food premises, giving it the potential to become a tourism attraction in line with the development of ecotourism in this area,” he said when officiating at the Anjung Usahawan Sundar opening ceremony on Sunday.
According to him, although the Sundar area faces challenges such as flooding during heavy rainfall and tidal surges, it possesses distinct advantages in terms of natural resources that are suitable for sustainable agricultural and livestock development.
He also highlighted the presence of Lepapa Lawas Hypermarket, which attracts visitors from Brunei and Sabah, as a strategic opportunity for local entrepreneurs to market their products, particularly if they adopt quality packaging and comply with the required standards. -UKASnews
