Sarawak Shares Industrial Transition Experience At World Economic Forum 2026
SWITZERLAND: Sarawak strengthened its international engagement at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 through the participation of Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel as a panellist in the session titled ‘Industrial Clusters as Engines of Transformation’ held at DP World House in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday.
The session brought together global policymakers and industry leaders to discuss how industrial clusters can enhance economic resilience, support energy transition, and build future-ready industrial ecosystems amid evolving global supply chains.
During the discussion, Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah shared Sarawak’s experience in advancing the Bintulu Industrial Cluster, highlighting its integrated development approach that aligns infrastructure, energy supply, logistics, and industrial planning under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
He also outlined Sarawak’s efforts to drive low-carbon industrial growth through the Sarawak Energy Transition Policy, the Sarawak Hydrogen Economy Roadmap, and the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint 2030, which collectively guide the state’s long-term economic and sustainability agenda.
Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah also highlighted the importance of maintaining a high level of good governance practices, integrity and transparency.
The session reinforced Sarawak’s position as a forward-looking and reliable partner in the global transition towards resilient, low-carbon and inclusive industrial ecosystems, while opening pathways for deeper international collaboration under the World Economic Forum’s industrial transformation initiatives.
Also accompanying him were Permanent Secretary to the Ministry for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty) Datu Abang Ahmad Abang Morni and MEESty Corporate Development and Economy Division Head Dr Kho Lip Khoon. -UKASnews
