Sarawak Welcomes Malaysia Airports Initiative To Improve Infrastructure
KUCHING: Sarawak welcomes the initiative by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, which is currently improving infrastructure and facilities at the state's airports.
Sarawak Transport Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, said that he has been receiving feedback and complaints from the public for the past two to three years and has raised the matter in several meetings with the airport management.
"The primary complaint most often raised relates to toilet facilities, and I am pleased that Malaysia Airports has taken steps to upgrade and renovate the facilities at the airport, including the toilets you saw a moment ago," he said when met by reporters after paying a working visit to Kuching International Airport (KIA) here on Wednesday.
He revealed that through last year's budget allocation, a total of 13 upgrade projects had been implemented; 11 of these have been completed, while the remaining two are still in progress.
This year, Malaysia Airports will continue this effort with a further 10 projects to upgrade airport facilities.
Among the completed upgrade works at KIA are the replacement of signage for better clarity, electronic boards displaying flight arrival and departure information, the installation of tinted glass to reduce heat, and a dedicated e-hailing waiting zone.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd (Kuching) Senior Manager, Ir Jun Iskandar Murshidi, said they have plans to provide a children's corner on Level 3 and install an iconic feature wall specially designed for passengers to take photos upon arrival and departure, thereby adding an engaging element and enhancing the overall airport experience. – UKASnews
