Sarawak Governor Receives Farewell Visit From US Ambassador To Malaysia
KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received a farewell visit from US Ambassador to Malaysia Edgard D. Kagan at his official residence here, Monday.
Edgard, who will end his term in Malaysia on February 16, 2026, has been in office since December 2023.
During the meeting, both parties discussed various strategic initiatives involving mutual interests, particularly in the fields of green economy and renewable energy.
Edgard expressed his admiration for the political stability and the implementation of comprehensive development in Sarawak under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
He also stressed the US Embassy's commitment to continue being a strategic partner in supporting Sarawak's aspirations to achieve developed state status.
Before concluding the meeting session, he expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Juniadi for his close cooperation, openness and willingness to share views and advice throughout the period of diplomatic relations.
Also present were the Spokesperson of the United States Embassy in Malaysia James Dewey and the Director of the Sarawak Regional Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato Fenny Nuli. -UKASnews
