Land Development Dialogue Strengthens Community Understanding
SPAOH: The collaborative approach between the government, private sector, and local communities continues to be fortified following a special dialogue session designed to provide residents with a comprehensive understanding of proposed oil palm cultivation in the Ulu Paku area and its surroundings.
The session, led by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, focused on the strategic opening of land for agricultural development and was successfully conducted at Rumah Mendit, Penom, Ulu Paku on Tuesday.
This engagement brought together approximately 100 participants, including village headmen and longhouse representatives from the Ulu Paku, Spaoh, and Ulu Rimbas regions.
The primary objective of the dialogue was to offer community leaders a dedicated platform to voice their perspectives, raise pertinent questions, and receive direct clarifications regarding the development proposal spearheaded by the TA ANN company.
During his address, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah—who also serves as the Bukit Saban Assemblyman—detailed the project's implementation, covering essential planning stages, development methodologies, and the long-term economic benefits intended for local residents.
Furthermore, he emphasized that every phase of the development will prioritize community feedback and strictly adhere to existing regulations to safeguard the welfare and interests of the people.
Also in attendance were Betong Member of Parliament Dato Dr. Richard Rapu, representatives from the Sarawak Land and Survey Department, and members of various Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK). — UKASnews
