SUKSAR IV 2026 Men’s Road Cycling Event Gets Underway With 21 Riders
BETONG: The Fourth Sarawak Games (SUKSAR IV 2026) got underway with the Men’s Road Cycling Race (Mass Start), featuring 21 riders from four zones competing for the top honours.
The intense contest involved representatives from four zones, with the Southern, Western and Northern Zones each fielding six riders while the Central Zone was represented by three riders.
The flag-off ceremony, held at 7.30 am at Dataran Medan, was officiated by Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED) Dzulkornain Masron.
Male riders were required to tackle a challenging 116-kilometre route with a total elevation gain of 780 metres along the Pan Borneo Highway, testing both physical endurance and team strategy.
Meanwhile, the Women’s Road Cycling Race is scheduled to take place at 1 pm, with the participation of nine riders.
The Southern Zone will field three riders, the Western Zone four, and the Northern Zone two, while the Central Zone will not send any representatives for this category.
For the women’s category, riders will compete over a distance of 105 kilometres with a total elevation gain of 710 metres.
The medal presentation ceremony for both categories is scheduled to be held at 5 pm today. -UKASnews
