Dato Sri Fatimah Mourns Loss Of Three Children In Sibu Jaya Drowning
KUCHING: Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has expressed profound grief over the recent drowning incident near the Sibu Jaya flats that claimed the lives of three young children aged between nine and 12.
She extended her deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prayed that they be granted strength during this difficult time.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak (KPWK), I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this extremely difficult time. May they be granted strength, comfort and resilience as they cope with this profound loss,” she said in a statement on Thursday.
Dato Sri Fatimah also called on the public to refrain from speculation and to respect both the ongoing investigation as well as the privacy of the grieving families.
“As the case is now under police investigation, we must allow the authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent inquiry,” she added.
At the same time, she said the tragedy underscores the importance of ensuring that environments accessible to children are safe and adequately safeguarded.
In this regard, the KPWK Minister urged all relevant stakeholders to review and strengthen preventive measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
