Sabah & Sarawak Public Service Strengthened Through MTPMA63
KUCHING: Efforts to strengthen the public services in Sabah and Sarawak in line with the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) continue to be reinforced through the Sabah and Sarawak State Public Service Working Committee Meeting under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) Number 1 of 2026.
The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Public Service (KPPA) Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz with discussions focusing on strategies to improve the effectiveness, professionalism and integrity of public services in both states.
Among the main agendas discussed were the issue of ‘Borneoisation’ of the federal public service in Sabah and Sarawak and the need for additional civil service posts for both states under Article 112 of the Federal Constitution, which falls under the functions of the Public Service Department (JPA).
Both initiatives aim to ensure more local officers serve in their respective states, thus strengthening administrative capacity and efficiency in delivering public services in both states.
Present to lead the Sabah Government delegation was Director General of Sabah Public Service Datuk Zainudin Aman, while Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki represented the Sarawak Government.
Also present to ensure the negotiation process runs smoothly were Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Deputy Director General of Management of the Sabah State Public Service Department (JPANS) Aidah Awang and Sabah Deputy Attorney General Suzumaidah Hussain. -UKASnews
