Southern Zone Dominates SUKSAR IV 2026 Boxing Event With Eight Gold Medals
SRI AMAN: The Southern Zone contingent dominated the boxing competition at the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) IV 2026 after clinching eight gold medals, earning them the title of overall champion of the event.
The finals, held at the Indoor Stadium of the Sri Aman Sports Complex on Friday, featured intense bouts involving boxers from the Southern, Western, Northern and Central zones.
The medal presentation ceremony was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development and SUKSAR IV 2026 Chairman, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, together with Sri Aman Division Resident Mahra Salleh.
A total of 11 gold medal categories were contested across both men’s and women’s events, reflecting the high level of competition throughout the tournament.
In the men’s flyweight (51kg) category, the gold medal was won by Azriq Syakirin Azfarizan of the Southern Zone.
Romero Agan of the Northern Zone secured silver, while the two bronze medals went to Mark Alanson Sepun Jony of the Central Zone and Nelson Nankai of the Western Zone.
The men’s bantamweight (54kg) title was claimed by Mohd Zulkarnain Iswandy from the Western Zone. Hyson Chrisley Sedie of the Northern Zone took silver, while Mohd Shahrizal Abu Saman of the Southern Zone and Roulaz Alanson Richard of the Central Zone shared the bronze medals.
In the men’s featherweight (57kg) category, Khairul Hazami Sulam of the Southern Zone captured gold, followed by Ethan Tingang Melvin of the Northern Zone with silver.
The bronze medal was won by Muhd Irfan Mohd Ishak from the Western Zone.
The men’s lightweight (60kg) category saw Wayne Kho Hae Kai of the Central Zone emerge victorious with gold. Davis Beckham Mit of the Southern Zone claimed silver, while Oliver Ngu Tian Lok of the Northern Zone and Jackson Daniel Dom of the Western Zone each secured bronze.
Gold in the men’s light welterweight (63.5kg) division went to Lam Wee Liang of the Southern Zone.
Maurice Malcon Uging from the Western Zone took silver, while Joshua Hii Wei Jun of the Northern Zone and Awg Muhd Arfan Awg Ismail of the Central Zone shared the bronze medals.
In the men’s welterweight (67kg) category, Abraham Samuel Jerry of the Southern Zone won gold, with Alexander Xavier Andres of the Central Zone finishing with silver.
Bronze medals were claimed by Mcdicklas Laja Sigan of the Northern Zone and Feinsten Fabrian Dominic of the Western Zone.
The men’s light middleweight (71kg) gold medal was secured by Ryan Fabiano Maiklay of the Southern Zone. Riq Roland of the Central Zone earned silver, while Marcos Robert of the Northern Zone and Tristan Aeden Minggu of the Western Zone took bronze.
For the men’s middleweight (75kg) category, Brandon Amir of the Northern Zone claimed gold.
Ilham Zhafran Al Ghanim of the Western Zone won silver, while the bronze medal went to Syahrul Wafie Khan Amran Khan of the Southern Zone.
In the women’s minimumweight (48kg) category, Patricia Jaquilina Bruce of the Southern Zone emerged champion with gold.
Felhzcha Emelda Eiin Linda of the Western Zone secured silver, while Jessie Wong of the Northern Zone and Frenecia Frander of the Central Zone shared the bronze medals.
The women’s flyweight (52kg) division saw Lailatul Aini Sapian of the Southern Zone take gold. Dayang Faiqah Awg Abu from the Western Zone won silver, while Monica Luhong John of the Northern Zone and Merdeka Tingang of the Central Zone earned bronze.
Meanwhile, the women’s featherweight (57kg) category was won by Clavia Charlene Sudang of the Southern Zone.
Eurinia Jackie Joachim of the Western Zone finished with silver, while Cristie Ashanty Tisin of the Central Zone and Velvert Etty Austin Lagan of the Northern Zone claimed the bronze medals. -UKASnews
