Western Zone Dominates Third Day Of SUKSAR IV 2026 Petanque Competition
SIMANGGANG: The Western Zone team continued its dominance on the third day of the petanque competition at the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) IV 2026, held at the Petanque Arena, Sri Aman Sports Complex here on Saturday.
Home athlete Fadzlin Ashiqin Radzuan emerged champion in the women’s singles category, clinching the gold medal.
The silver medal was won by Nur Durratuk Asilah Yazit of the Southern Zone, while Wilhelmina Frankie from the Central Zone took home the bronze.
In the men’s singles category, Southern Zone athlete Muhamad Irfan Syazani Fazarullah demonstrated his superiority by securing the gold medal.
The silver medal went to Muhamad Zhafiran Zafri Mohd Kassim of the Northern Zone, while home athlete Hairulfikriey Ramlee claimed the bronze.
Meanwhile, the men’s doubles event saw the Southern Zone pairing of Muhamad Adam Aidil Mustapa and Muhammad Amin Abdullah crowned gold medallists.
The silver medal was won by Northern Zone duo Abdul Faris Hakimi Abdul Talip and Muhamad Mutashum Aiman Junaidi, while the home pair of Abang Muhamad Razique Abang Rosni and Syed Ahmad Afzan Hafiz Wan Eriwan secured the bronze.
In the men’s triples category, the home team comprising Amzar Roslan, Muhammad Harraz Syazwi Lokman and Watziq Zulfiqrie Dahlan defeated the Northern Zone team with a score of 13–3 to claim the gold medal.
The Northern Zone team, represented by Muhamad Danial Rusyaidi Abdullah, Muhammad Ehsan Darwish Rudy and Muhammad Irshad Azni Azlan, took the silver, while the Central Zone team of Ahmad Aminurashid Ling Mohamad Idrus, Amir Hazim Abdul Aziz and Mohamad Nur Hakimi Abdul Rahman won the bronze.
In the women’s triples category, the Western Zone team of Khaireen Kasim, Nur Shahira Ismail and Nurul Batrisyia Zool Fadzli overcame the Southern Zone team 13–9 to secure the gold medal, marking their second gold of the day.
The silver medal was claimed by the Southern Zone team represented by Natasha Najwa Ali, Nur Qalisya Saini and Qurratu Aini Mohd Morly, while the bronze went to the Northern Zone team comprising Nur Yasmin Assyifa Abdullah, Nurfatihah Qaleesya Hairol and Nurwafa Nabilah Bolhazizan.
Earlier, the SUKSAR IV 2026 petanque competition got underway on Thursday with two event categories - men’s triples and women’s triples - and has been ongoing since then.
The competition is scheduled to conclude at 1pm on Sunday with a medal presentation ceremony for all winning teams at the Petanque Arena, Sri Aman Sports Complex. -UKASnews
