Sarawak Governor & Wife Celebrate Sarawakian Personnel Of Royal Malaysian Navy
PERAK: The first day of the official visit by Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi to the Lumut Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base Headquarters, here, on Monday, was graced with a ‘Ramah Mesra bersama Anak-Anak Sarawak TLDM’ ceremony at the M. Sidek Shabudin Hall.
The reception served as a platform for interaction between the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak and his wife with the RMN’s Sarawakian personnel, who are currently serving and residing at the base, in an atmosphere of warmth and harmony.
At the same event, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah presented prizes to 10 high achieving students, in addition to contributions to 10 chronically ill patients.
Also present were the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts as the Escorting Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah with his wife Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jaabar, Navy Commander Admiral Tan Sri (Dr.) Zulhelmy Ithnain with his wife Puan Sri Zamzelina Ahmad, Deputy Navy Commander Vice Admiral Datuk Badarudin Taha with his wife Datin Noriah Sahlan and Commander of the Western Fleet Vice Admiral Dato’ Baharudin Wan Md Nor with his wife Datin Shafiqah Ismail.
The atmosphere of the ceremony was further enlivened by cultural and singing performances by RMN personnel, in addition to a luncheon provided.
Shortly after, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and his wife continued their visit to Building 102, Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS).
During the visit, LUNAS Executive Officer Azhar Jumaat shared information regarding the construction process and current developments of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), including the progress of the RMN Littoral Combat Ship 3 (LCS 3) project.
The Sarawak Governor and his wife then visited the exhibition gallery to view a large-scale replica of a LCS reproduced using Lego blocks, before concluding the first day of the official visit’s programme.
On the next day, the Naming and Launching Ceremony of the LCS 3 of the RMN is scheduled to take place at the LUNAS Shipyard which will be officiated by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi as the Lady Sponsor, witnessed by Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi.
Earlier, the official visit began with a Main Honour Guard ceremony at the Western Fleet Headquarters as a sign of the highest respect for the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, before departing for the residence of the Sultan of Selangor, Istana Bandar (Jugra) to complete the official visit book signing ceremony and listen to a briefing session on the RMN's operations, followed by a tour of several main facilities around the Lumut RMN Base, including the operational area at the Advanced Mission Support Ship (AMSS) Operations Jetty and the KD Indera Sakti Ship. -UKASnews
