Sarawak Governor & Wife Join A March of Unity, Stirring Supporter Spirit
KUCHING: The Governor of Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi graciously attended the second leg of the Malaysia Cup quarter-final between Kuching City FC and DPMM FC at the Sarawak Stadium last night.
The arrival of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah at approximately 8:30 pm was received by the President of Kuching City FC and Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
Also in attendance were the Consul General of Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Abdul Mahdani Dato Paduka Sheikh Abdul Gani, Chief Executive Officer of Kuching City FC Iswandi Ali Hassan and his wife Dayang Siti Aisyah Mohd Atai, alongside other dignitaries.
Further support was shown by the Permanent Secretary of the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dzulkornain Masron, and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak Sports Corporation Khairul Nizam Morshidi.
The Sarawak Governor and his wife were greeted by a thunderous ovation from over 10,000 supporters who flooded the Sarawak Stadium to provide staunch support for both teams.
During the half-time interval, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah graciously joined 'A March of Unity' around the stadium, waving to the supporters alongside Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, accompanied by dignitaries and the marching band from SMK St. Joseph Kuching.
This moment made its own mark in history, as it was the first time the Sarawak Governor and his wife attended a football match at the State Stadium with thousands of supporters, providing the public with an opportunity to see the state leadership at closer quarters.
In the match, the home side, Kuching City FC, defeated DPMM FC 3-1, recording a 6-2 aggregate to qualify for the Malaysia Cup semi-finals.
Before departing, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah extended their congratulations to Dato Fazzrudin and the entire Kuching City FC squad on their victory, offering prayers that the team representing Sarawak continues to excel and goes on to clinch the Malaysia Cup title this season. - UKASnews
