Sarawak Governor Hopes For More Blessings & Good News In Year Of The Horse
KUCHING: The Sarawak Chinese New Year 2026 Open House Celebration took place in an atmosphere full of goodwill when the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, expressed his hope that the Year of the Horse will bring blessings, prosperity and good news to all the people of the state.
He said this to reporters before he and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, departed from the Sarawak Chinese New Year Celebration Ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Tuesday.
“Happy New Year, Gong Xi Fa Cai. We pray that the Year of the Horse will bring good news and goodness to us,” he said.
Earlier, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah spent more than an hour with the Sarawak and Federal Government Cabinets and guests in attendance.
At the event, he and his wife, along with other dignitaries, also performed the Yee Sang mixing ceremony as a symbol of good luck, prosperity and abundance of sustenance.
The event organised by the Sarawak Government was also graced with various cultural performances by the Chinese community including lion and dragon dances, orchestra performances, and singing in various languages that depicted the uniqueness of the cultural heritage as the strength of the state and the nation.
The state-level celebration is an annual event that reflects the values of sharing, togetherness and mutual appreciation, thus strengthening the unique social harmony in the Land of the Tigers.
Also present during the open house were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof with his wife Datin Amar Ruziah Mohd Tahir, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah with his wife Datin Amar Doreen Mayang, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian with his wife Datin Amar Enn Ong Siok Ean, Sarawak Cabinet Ministers, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki with his wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, Deputy Ministers of the Sarawak Government and heads of departments.- UKASnews
