LIMBANG: Racial harmony continues to be an important basis in building a stable and developed nation, especially in the context of a plural society where the spirit of mutual respect and celebrating cultural diversity and festivals reflects the maturity of the people in preserving unity.

Deputy Minister of Transport of Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Limbang, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said that every year Malaysians celebrate various ceremonies and festivals of each race together as a symbol of complete unity.

“Every year we celebrate various ceremonies of each race and celebrate together.

"This is the unity that exists among Malaysians where unity is an important foundation in building a nation, and among the signs that our country is progressing is because of the unity that we have achieved today,” he said.

He was met by the media during a friendly visit in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration with the Community Leaders and the Chinese Chiefs of Limbang District on Tuesday.

Adding that, the practice of visiting and participating together in every celebration not only strengthens the relationship of friendship, but is also a clear sign that the strength of a country lies in the unity of its people.

In conjunction with this Year of the Horse, Datuk Hasbi hopes that the celebration will bring goodness and strength to all people regardless of race and religion.

"Hope in conjunction with this Year of the Horse, we hope for goodness and strength for our people. We need to maintain harmony so that the existing unity continues to be maintained and strengthened," he added.
