KUCHING: The Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) is opening entries for its 82 branches throughout Sarawak to participate in the 2026 SABERKAS President's Cup Futsal Championship (Kejohanan Futsal Piala Presiden SABERKAS 2026) which will be held from 1 to 3 May.

Chairman of the SABERKAS Sports, Recreation and Culture Committee Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu encouraged encouraged each branch to field one team for the tournament.

“We are opening participation to all 82 SABERKAS branches and encourage each branch to send one team, with players comprising members from their respective branches.

“The closing date for registration is 30 March,” he said at a press conference on the championship at Baitulmakmur II, here on Friday.

The Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development said the champion will receive RM7,000 in cash along with a challenge trophy, medals and certificates of participation, the runner-up will take home RM5,000, while joint third-place winners will receive RM3,000 each.

He added that four teams advancing to the quarter-finals will each receive RM1,000, in addition to special awards for Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Top Scorer, each carrying a RM200 cash prize and a trophy.

Preliminary and quarter-final matches will be held in Kuching, while the final is scheduled to take place at the Samarahan Sports Complex. -UKASnews
