Spirit Of Unity As Core Of Sarawak’s Community Harmony
SIBU: The spirit of unity and harmony, which has long been the backbone of Sarawak's strength, must continue to be nurtured among the state's multi-ethnic community.
Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Bintulu, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, stated that Sarawak’s uniqueness is highlighted through mutual respect and cooperation between communities, creating the peaceful and prosperous atmosphere enjoyed today.
According to him, the values of togetherness and tolerance practiced for so long deserve to be defended so that social harmony remains strong for the collective well-being.
“In Sarawak, we can see that the people are very united. This unity and harmony must continue to be preserved.
“We should not raise issues that could jeopardise the good relations between our communities,” he said.
He spoke during a Chinese New Year visit to the residence of Bawang Assan Assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh here on Friday.
In the meantime, he stressed that differences of opinion should not be a cause for division; instead, they should be celebrated with maturity and prudence to ensure harmony remains protected.
He added that the culture of visiting one another during festive seasons is the best platform to strengthen ties, reinforce understanding, and sow the spirit of muhibbah (goodwill) among the people. -UKASnews
