Kenyalang Smart City Symbolises Unity, Drives Smart Urban Development In Miri
MIRI: The Kenyalang Smart City Chinese New Year and Iftar Celebration, held at the Kenyalang Smart City construction site, reflected the unique spirit of unity and harmony that defines Sarawak’s diverse communities.
Sarawak Minister for Transport and Senadin Assemblyman, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, said the organisation of an event that combined two major celebrations — Chinese New Year and the breaking of fast — clearly illustrated the shared values that form the foundation of the state’s multiracial society.
“Chinese New Year symbolises new beginnings, confidence and hope, while Iftar reminds us of the meaning of gratitude, patience and togetherness.
“When these values come together, they reflect Sarawak’s inclusive, friendly and forward-looking spirit,” he said.
He was speaking at the Kenyalang Smart City Chinese New Year and Iftar Celebration here recently.
He added that the development of Kenyalang Smart City is not merely a physical project, but an effort to shape a more sustainable and higher-quality future for the next generation.
According to him, a city requires an efficient transport and mobility system as the foundation for sustainable development, which in turn creates economic opportunities and stimulates urban growth.
He noted that Miri, long recognised as a dynamic city since the oil and gas era, continues to move forward through the development of a people-centric smart city.
At the same time, he stressed that the Sarawak Government remains committed to supporting development that is carefully planned and responsibly implemented, taking into account the long-term needs of the community, including mobility, environmental considerations and public well-being.
Also present were Telang Usan Assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau, Miri City Council Deputy Mayor Ariffin Mohamad, as well as other invited guests. -UKASnews
