100 Asnaf, New Converts Receive Harapan Ramadan Aid In Simunjan
SIMUNJAN: The month of Ramadan continues to be utilised to instill the values of patience, gratitude and compassion when 100 asnaf and new converts from 14 villages around the district received contributions through the ‘Harapan Ramadan’ Programme.
The programme organised by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) in collaboration with CIMB Islamic Bank was officiated by Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris at the Darul Hijrah Mosque on Sunday.
According to Awla, the aid was contributed by the CIMB Islamic Bank, while YADIM Sarawak acted as a coordinator to ensure that the aid distribution reached the target group in an organised and comprehensive manner.
Each recipient family received kitchen equipment worth RM150 to help ease the burden of expenses during Ramadan.
He stressed that Ramadan is not just an act of worship, but instead a month that educates Muslims with the qualities of charity and empathy towards the less fortunate.
“Ramadan is a month that educates us with compassion and empathy towards the less fortunate. This is the best time for us to strengthen the value of togetherness and helping each other,” he said when speaking at the event.
Awla added that the selection of Simunjan District as the location of the programme is very significant because it is the sixth and final destination for the implementation of the Sarawak-level ‘Harapan Ramadan’ Programme this year.
He also reminded that every assistance given, even if modest, can have a big impact on the recipient's family, especially ahead of Aidilfitri.
“This contribution may not be of great value, but it is meaningful enough to help ease family expenses during Ramadan and preparations for Syawal,” he said.
At the same event, Awla through the Simunjan Service Center also distributed 200 packs of bubur lambuk with dates and biscuits to the recipients and attendees as a symbol of the spirit of togetherness and efforts to make Ramadan more enjoyable at the community level.
Also present were YADIM Sarawak Director Awang Dulhadi Awang Mat and Darul Hijrah Mosque Management Committee Chairman Azman Mut. -UKASnews
