KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) will be organising the LCDA Sapphire Run 1.0 in collaboration with Grit Event Management, a community running event scheduled to take place on 5 April 2026 at Padang Merdeka, Kuching.
According to LCDA, the inaugural run is being held in conjunction with its 45th anniversary.
“With the theme ‘45 Tahun LCDA Bersama Komuniti’, this is not merely a running event but a unique experience that takes participants through iconic locations across Kuching city.
“The route will pass several major landmarks including Kuching Waterfront, Hikmah Exchange, Plaza Merdeka, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Bridge and Borneo Cultures Museum, creating what feels like a ‘moving postcard’ that showcases the beauty of the city,” it said in a statement.
The event features two distance categories, namely a 10-kilometre (km) run flagging off at 6 am, and a 4.5km run starting at 6.30 am.
The run will take place on open roads under controlled security arrangements without full road closures, ensuring smooth traffic flow and minimal disruption to the public.
“The family-friendly concept makes the event accessible to participants of all ages and fitness levels.
“The LCDA Sapphire Run 1.0 is organised as part of our initiative to strengthen community engagement, promote healthy lifestyles and foster a spirit of togetherness in conjunction with the 45th anniversary of LCDA’s establishment,” the statement said.
