Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Conducts Site Visit To Wisma Melayu Sarawak
KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Sarawak Malay Cultural Foundation Charitable Trust (AKYBMS) Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan conducted a visit to the Wisma Melayu Sarawak project site on Monday to review the current progress of the project.
According to a statement, the visit was aimed at obtaining an update on the progress of the construction works and ensuring that each development component was implemented according to the plan, implementation schedule and specifications that had been set.
“The visit also reflected the continued commitment of the AKYBMS top leadership in ensuring that the development of Wisma Melayu Sarawak could be completed perfectly and fulfill the goal of its establishment as an important landmark that symbolises the heritage, identity and self-respect of the Malay community in Sarawak,” it said.
During the visit, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah was given a short briefing by project management on the current progress status, the scope of work being carried out and the work plan for the final phase of construction.
He also examined several key components of the development to ensure that the facilities provided would be able to meet the needs of various social, cultural, educational and community programs involving the Sarawak Malay community.
The visit was also attended by AKYBMS Board of Trustees Deputy Chairman Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, AKYBMS General Manager Datu Dr Sanib Said, the contractors and consultants involved as well as AKYBMS staff.
“When completed, Wisma Melayu Sarawak is poised to play a significant role as a centre for activities for the Sarawak Malay community and serve as an important platform in strengthening the state's Malay identity, history, art and culture.
“This development is also in line with AKYBMS' aspiration to continue to strengthen efforts to preserve, conserve and develop Sarawak's Malay cultural heritage so that it can continue to be appreciated and inherited by present and future generations,” the statement said. -UKASnews
