KUALA LUMPUR: A delegation from the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), led by its permanent secretary Datu Lester Matthew, paid a courtesy call on Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Dato’ Hairil Yahri Yaacob on Tuesday to discuss development priorities and enhance cooperation in trade and investment.

In a statement it said that during the meeting, both parties exchanged views on several infrastructure initiatives aimed at supporting Sarawak’s economic development, alongside exploring potential areas of collaboration in international trade and investment.

Discussions also centred on strengthening the sharing of business intelligence between Sarawak and agencies under MITI.

Among the key sectors highlighted were the halal industry, advanced manufacturing, and efforts to improve market access for businesses.

The courtesy visit reflects ongoing efforts to reinforce federal–state collaboration in driving economic growth and expanding trade opportunities for Sarawak. -UKASnews
