Festive Celebrations Strengthen Multi-Ethnic Community Unity In Limbang
LIMBANG: Festive celebrations continue to be an important platform in strengthening the unity and harmony of the multi-ethnic society in this state, particularly in Limbang.
Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Limbang Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said that organising open houses is not just about celebrating a festival, but also serves as an effective medium in closing relationships and fostering values of respect and tolerance.
“This unity must continue to be maintained through cooperation, mutual respect, and tolerance,” he said when met during his Open House at Dewan Bunga Raya on Saturday.
According to him, the value of unity expressed through festive celebrations needs to be applied in daily life to ensure that harmony continues to be preserved.
Meanwhile, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development and Bukit Kota Assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rahman Ismail advised that festive celebrations should be observed modestly following global economic uncertainties.
However, he said, celebrations still play a vital role in strengthening community cooperation and solidarity.
The open house event took place in a lively atmosphere with the attendance of people from various ethnic groups, thereby reflecting a strong spirit of unity and the relevance of the open house tradition as a medium for uniting the people.
Also present were Batu Danau Assemblyman Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang and his wife Datin Mary Sindang, as well as the Deputy Resident of Limbang Division, Marie Cotilla Louise. — UKASnews
