Miri Education & Career Fair Offers Over 300 Job Opportunities
MIRI: More than 300 job opportunities are offered at the 5th Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew Education and Career Fair 2026, taking place from 10 to 12 April at the Miri Indoor Stadium.
Datuk Sebastian who is the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts said the organisation of the fair aims to help students and job seekers gain clearer direction in their education and career pathways.
According to him, a total of 40 education institutions and 20 companies are participating in this edition, reflecting the importance of education and career development in the local community.
“This platform brings together various important information including opportunities to further their studies, course selection, scholarships, financial assistance, education loan schemes as well as career paths and current industry needs,” he said.
He said this when officiating the fair at the Miri Indoor Stadium, on Friday.
The Piasau Assemblyman added that the career fair also features sharing sessions by companies, and daily talks to provide participants with the latest exposure on the job market.
At the same time, various agencies including foundations, higher education funding bodies and financial institutions are taking part to offer professional advice on financial assistance for students.
“This is important to ensure that students receive accurate information on the support available in their efforts to further their studies,” he explained.
Datuk Sebastian also encouraged students, graduates and parents to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by exploring various options, obtaining information and planning for the future wisely.
Along with the organisation of the programme, the Domestic Trade Office is also organising the Rahmah Sales Programme on 11 April at the stadium parking area to help the public obtain essential goods at affordable prices.
Earlier, the event was also attended by Organising Chairman and Chairman of the Miri Education Initiative Society (MEIS) Councillor Leslie Lau, representative of the Miri District Education Office (PPD) Grispin Sahah, MMS education partner representative Ing Hui and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) representative Jimmy Hendrick Kijon. -UKASnews
