PPWS Urged To Strengthen Cooperation, Seize New Sector Opportunities
LAWAS: The strategic role of women in driving state development continues to be empowered as the Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institutes (PPWS) is urged to strengthen cooperation networks with various parties to seize opportunities in growing new sectors.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said close cooperation between women's organisations, government agencies, and other stakeholders is vital to ensuring more initiatives can be implemented effectively and comprehensively.
According to him, women today have proven their capabilities in various fields, including economy, education, and social sectors, playing a significant role in the state's progress.
“Organisations like PPWS must continue to collaborate with other groups and government agencies because there are still many things that can be achieved together,” he said.
He spoke during the PPWS 64th Anniversary Eve Celebration Dinner and the Lawas District PPWS Aidilfitri Gathering held at the Lawas Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
He emphasised that Sarawak is currently in a new development phase involving high-tech industries and a modern economy, opening more doors for the people, particularly women.
“We must focus on education and skills. Looking at higher learning institutions, the majority of students are women, showing great potential that must be utilised,” he remarked.
He added that women possess the ability and efficiency to achieve success if they fully capitalise on available opportunities.
Furthermore, he noted that community unity remains the core foundation of Sarawak's stability, which is now gaining recognition not just nationally but also internationally.
The event was also attended by Lawas Member of Parliament Dato Henry Sum Agong, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, PPWS State Chairperson Dato Norhayati Ismail, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier Awangku Jinal Abedin, Lawas District Officer Ladin Atok, and Lawas District PPWS Chairperson Suriyah Jinin. — UKASnews
