Sarawak Governor & Wife Receive Courtesy Call From Chinese Consul General In Kuching
KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, along with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy call from the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kuching, Xing Weiping, at the Astana Negeri Sarawak on Monday.
The primary purpose of the visit was to officially introduce Xing Weiping as the Consul General in Kuching and to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between Sarawak and China.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on various strategic fields, including the digital economy, renewable energy, Artificial Intelligence (AI), the green economy, and agricultural sector development.
Xing Weiping expressed his admiration for Sarawak’s rapid development, political stability, and the harmony among its multi-racial community.
He reaffirmed China's commitment to remain a significant development partner in supporting Sarawak’s aspirations to achieve developed state status by the year 2030.
Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi shared insights from his tenure in the Federal Government, including official visits to China that showcased the country's rapid transformation since the 1990s.
He also touched upon the long-standing diplomatic and trade history between Malaysia and China, established during the era of the second Prime Minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak Hussein.
